Edlene Hart

Singer/Band leader/Owner of SolCity Live Arts & Enterprses

Edlene Hart is an international soul singer originally from Yonkers near the NYC area. Edlene started singing at the age of five in church where she was groomed by Mr. John Simmons, the Master Keyboardist & Musical Director for many well known artists.

 

Through an educational journey from a Performing Arts high school through studying Music Education in New York at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn & Queens College. She performed all genres and in many languages in Opera, Broadway, Jazz, Spirituals & Contemporary music which led Edlene to an acting role in the play "The Legacy" at The National Black Theatre in Harlem.

 

A powerful and sultry singer, Edlene Hart will captivate an audience with her explosive stage presence. In New York, she was once dubbed “Chocolate Thunder” and in South Florida also known as “The Singing Bus Lady,” because she can take you anywhere you want to go!

 

Learning from the best has led Edlene to share the stage and record with well-known recording artists including Whitney Houston, Eryka Badu, Issac Hayes, The Delphonics, Melba Moore, as well as having opened for the legendary Tony Bennett. Edlene Hart has also toured singing gospel throughout Europe & South Africa.

 

Edlene’s talents also include songwriting and producing for the Iconic Rapper Chuck D's female recording artists’ Total Look and The Style in the 90s. She worked as songwriter with Grammy award-winning musician Lenny White, which led her to jingle work. She can be heard singing on Folgers Coffee, McDonalds & New Jersey Community Bank commercials.

 

Throughout her years in New York, Edlene has been incredibly blessed to have worked in some of the top bands such as The Funk Junkies, The NY Soul Sisters, The F&G Band, Groove Buffet & Steve Wexler and The Top Shelf Band ...but now she calls South Florida home. She can be found performing everything from Jazz, Funk and pop to R&B, Smooth Jazz and beyond.

Edlene has worked with Joey Gilmore a blues legend of South Florida and has 2 featured songs on his cd Respect The Blues. She's performed with House of Power Dance horn band, Otis And The Cadillacs, Edlene Hart R&B Band, Spellbound- a Smooth & Contemporary Jazz Band & The Chill Factor Funk Band.

 Now she can be found performing with her jazz band, her female group called Soultastic performing a Tribute to The Incredible Pointer Sisters!
